Hong Kong-based indie rock band The Flashback releases vulnerable acoustic track ‘The Way I Die', venturing away from their rock and roll roots.
This introspective ode to their love of folk is celebrated with bright, finger-picked guitar, melancholic harmonies, and profound lyrics. Inspired by the likes of Bon Iver, Bob Dylan and Kings of Convenience, this song encapsulates the essence of folk through contemplative storytelling.
The Way I Die releases across major streaming platforms and will have an accompanying video released at the end of January.

lyrics
Who hasn’t had a change of heart?
Who hasn’t found a way to love?
Ages and stages
Ashes to ashes
Those the things I never overcome
Who hasn't dreamt of being someone else?
Who hasn't closed eyes to face the sun?
The shallow whale
And the winding lane
Those the things I just have to waive
Can you please me?
Free me from the rise
I’m nearby, and I’ll soon arrive
Can you teach me?
Save me from the fire
The soot keeps breezing
Head to south and erase bliss
And maybe my friend, my lover, that’s the way I die
The end of my cigarette won’t ever tell
The answer of division, can't you hear?
The winter left the matches on my wooden roof
Playing my mind like I’m fooled
Can you heal me?
Free me from this world
I’ve forgotten how I had gone that far
Can you feel me?
Some spirits never die
The soot keeps breezing
Head to south and erase bliss
And maybe my friend, my lover, my band, my teacher, my boss, my landlord, my music, my mother,
that’s the way I die
